Let Dewey and Elijah take you on a STEM exploration journey

Welcome to Elijah and Dewey's Journey of Curiosity and Exploration in STEM for Kids

I am excited to officially share the release of my newest children’s book, Where Will Dewey Take Me?—a story rooted in curiosity, movement, and the belief that STEM belongs everywhere, including our neighborhoods, libraries, museums, and everyday lives.

At NoireSTEMinist®, the vision has always been clear: STEM is for the streets, the sidewalks, the classrooms, and the kitchen tables. This book is a direct reflection of that mission.

Meet Dewey 🚀

Dewey isn’t just a robot. Dewey is curiosity on wheels.

In Where Will Dewey Take Me?, young readers follow Dewey as he explores new spaces, asks big questions, and discovers how movement, sensing, and decision-making shape the world around him. Through Dewey’s journey, children are introduced—without gatekeeping or jargon—to foundational ideas in robotics, engineering, and computational thinking.

No labs required. No permission slips needed. Just curiosity.

Why This Book Matters

Too often, STEM is presented as something distant or exclusive—something you “get into” later, if you’re invited. This book flips that script.

Where Will Dewey Take Me? is about:

  • Agency: Kids seeing themselves as explorers and builders

  • Accessibility: Robotics concepts grounded in everyday experiences

  • Representation: Black futures, present tense, with technology

  • Joy: Learning through wonder, play, and movement

Dewey doesn’t wait to be told where he belongs. He rolls forward and finds out.

Built From the NoireSTEMinist® Vision

This book is part of a larger ecosystem that includes:

  • Open-source robotics education

  • Community-based STEM learning

  • Makerspaces, museums, and classrooms

  • Children who may not yet see themselves in textbooks—but already see possibilities

If you’ve followed my work, you know this is personal. It’s about changing who STEM is for, how it’s taught, and who gets to imagine themselves as the future.

Who This Book Is For

  • Children baby through nine years old or Pre-K through 4th grade who love to ask “what if?”

  • Parents and caregivers looking for meaningful STEM stories

  • Educators, librarians, and museum professionals

  • Anyone who believes robots can be both technical and joyful

Where Will Dewey Take You?

That’s the real question.

This book invites young readers to imagine their own journeys—where curiosity leads, where robots roll, and where STEM shows up in their lives. Dewey’s path is open-ended, just like theirs.

Because the future of STEM doesn’t start in college. It starts with a question. And sometimes… with a robot on wheels.

Where Will Dewey Take Me? now available in the NoireSTEMinist shop and everywhere that books are sold.
